Betty Naylor, Our Champion

From The Austin Chronicle:
"Our government is totally participatory. If you don't participate, your opinion means nothing. How many people do you know even know who their representatives are ... or their council members? That's pathetic, in my opinion. If we all knew, then the people, not the elected officials, would run government.' " -- Betty Naylor
This is a great feature story on a true Texas legend. Betty Naylor is a gift to our community. She is an intelligent, deligent advocate. A great lady and a great friend.

Billy Graham On Gay Marriage

From 365Gay.com:
"Cautious even in his more active years, Graham now seeks to shun all public controversies - preferring a simple message of love and unity through Jesus Christ. Asked about gay marriage, for instance, Graham replied that "I don't give advice. I'm going to stay off these hot-button issues.'' "
This is from Billy Graham, a minister one can respect. Certainly he has had his moments, for we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But over all, a great religious leader. The sentence below sums it up. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all in the religious community adopted this simple premise.
"I don't throw rocks at anybody,'' he said. "That's not my message. My message is the Gospel of Christ.''

Swaggert Endorses "Gaycide" From The Pulpit

From 365Gay.com:
"According to a transcript of the program, Swaggart said: 'I'm trying to find the correct name for it ... this utter absolute, asinine, idiotic stupidity of men marrying men. ... I've never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry. And I'm gonna be blunt and plain; if one ever looks at me like that, I'm gonna kill him and tell God he died.' "
It's nice to see that Jimmy has mellowed in his old age.

Forgive me for my absence...

Just wanted to put a little post up concerning my absence. I have been busy working on the ground to help stem the tide in Texas regarding the Marriage Amendment. That has kept me hopping with little free time to post. Thanks for all the emails of concern. But I haven't dropped out, simply taking a vacation to use some good old fashioned elbow grease in the fight. Anyone wishing to join in or would like resources they can use visit the Lesbian Gay Rights Lobby of Texas' website at http://www.lgrl.org. Some great information is up there. I will be back!
